about

“Raven’s Song” is a reflection on a time when I existed in a state of limerence, intersecting with the third stage of grief: Bargaining. It is an interplay between fire and water that takes place at night, in darkness, in a forest by the river. I sing to make a deal with a devil: can I drown myself completely to annihilate unrequited desire? Will a ritualistic sacrifice of the self end the intrusive pining? “Raven’s Song” traverses a psyche riddled with obsession - a mind that can’t let go.

lyrics

Raven’s Song,
I’m stilling hanging on.

I hold a torch for a devil,
I saw his eyes.
I hold a torch for a devil
and the burning won’t die.

Raven’s Song,
I’m stilling hanging on.

I’ll take the torch to the river
in the dead of night.
I’ll take the torch to the river,
that blinding burning light.

Raven’s Song,
I’m stilling hanging on.

I will drown in the river to snuff its life.
Drowning in the river to stay alive.

Raven’s Song,
I’m stilling hanging on.
